📋 The Short Version
- Boost’s internet is mobile data. Its prepaid plans give you data on your phone, from $14 for 7 days up to 365GB over 12 months.
- Boost doesn’t offer home internet or NBN. Its Boost Broadband NBN plans, announced in 2024, never went on sale.
- For home internet, look at Telstra or Belong NBN, or Telstra 5G home internet if NBN is slow or unavailable.
- You can keep Boost for your mobile and choose a different provider for home. We’ll set up both.
Does Boost Offer Home Internet?
No. Boost is a prepaid mobile brand, and it doesn’t have a home internet plan at the moment. There’s no Boost NBN, 5G or wireless home internet plan to sign up to. If you want home internet, we’ll point you to the plans that are available through Telstra and Belong, and set it up for you.
It’s an easy mix-up. Boost announced an NBN service called Boost Broadband in 2024, but it never went on sale, and the Boost brand has since joined Telstra. Today Boost does what it does best, which is prepaid mobile data on Telstra’s full network, while home internet comes through Telstra and Belong. Because we look after all three brands, we can help with whichever suits you.
💡 Why This Matters
You’ll still see pages online talking about “Boost home internet” as though you can sign up today. You can’t, and we’d rather tell you that up front than waste your time. The good news is that the right home internet plan is easy to find, and we’ll help you do it.

What Are Boost’s Mobile Internet Plans?
Boost’s mobile internet plans are prepaid recharges with a set data allowance. They run on Telstra’s full network, so coverage is excellent, but they’re built for phones rather than a whole household.
| Boost Recharge | Price | Standard Data | Good For |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7-day | $14 | 6GB | Short stays |
| 28-day | $28 | 8GB | Very light use |
| 28-day | $39 | 30GB | Most people |
| 28-day | $49 | 45GB | Regular streamers |
| 28-day | $59 | 55GB | Heavy phone users |
| 12-month | $300 or $365 | 240GB or 365GB | Set and forget |
Standard allowances after Boost’s May 2026 plan changes. New customers often get bonus data, so ask us what’s on today. See our full Boost Mobile plans guide.
Can a Boost SIM Work as Home Internet?
It can work in a spare device, but it’s rarely a good idea for a whole home. A 30GB or 55GB allowance can vanish in days once a family streams, games and video calls. NBN plans from Telstra and Belong include unlimited data, which is a very different proposition.
⚠️ The Honest Take
Use a Boost SIM for your phone, a tablet on the go or as a backup for when your home internet drops out. For the home itself, NBN or 5G home internet will almost always cost less per gigabyte and keep everyone happier.
What Are the Best Alternatives to Boost Home Internet?
If you want home internet with plenty of data, these are the options we’d look at for most Brisbane households.
Telstra NBN
Five speed tiers from NBN 25 to NBN 1000, unlimited data, and an optional modem with 4G backup.
See NBN internet →Belong NBN
Telstra’s budget brand, with NBN 25, 50 and 100 plans, unlimited data and month-to-month terms.
See Belong plans →Telstra 5G Home Internet
A wireless home internet service that plugs in and works. Speeds depend on your local 5G signal, and data allowances apply.
| Option | Typical Price | Data | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Boost mobile data (phone) | $14 to $59 per recharge | 6GB to 55GB per recharge | Your phone and backup |
| Belong NBN | About $75 to $95 | Unlimited | Lowest-cost NBN |
| Telstra NBN | $89 to $129 | Unlimited | Faster speeds and backup |
| Telstra 5G Home Internet | From $70 (Premium $95) | High allowance (1TB on Premium) | No-NBN homes and renters |
Standard monthly prices following Telstra’s July 2026 price changes. Offers vary and prices change, so ask us for today’s price for your address.
Can You Combine Boost Mobile and Internet Plans From Different Providers?
Yes, and it’s a very common setup. Keep Boost’s prepaid plan for your phone, with Telstra’s full network coverage, and choose a Telstra or Belong NBN plan for home.
The two don’t affect each other, so you can mix and match. We can set up both in one visit, move your number if you’re switching, and make sure you aren’t left without service in the gap. Our Telstra vs Belong vs Boost guide compares all three brands if you’re still deciding.
Which Home Internet Option Suits You?
| Your Situation | Look At | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 1–2 people, light use | Belong NBN 25 or 50 | Lowest cost, plenty for streaming and calls |
| Family of 3–4 | NBN 100 (Belong or Telstra) | Handles several devices at once |
| Work from home, gaming, large downloads | Telstra Premium (500Mbps on fibre) | Faster speeds, and optional 4G backup |
| Renting short-term, or NBN is slow | Telstra 5G home internet | Plug-in setup, no technician visit |
| Just need data on the go | Boost prepaid on your phone | Great coverage, no lock-in |

🔴 Watch Out for Intro Prices

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Boost Mobile offer home internet?
No. Boost Mobile is a prepaid mobile brand, and it doesn’t have a home internet, NBN or 5G wireless plan at the moment. Its internet is mobile data on a prepaid SIM. For your home, we’ll set you up with a Telstra or Belong NBN plan, or Telstra 5G home internet, and you can keep Boost on your phone if you like.
What happened to Boost Broadband?
Boost Broadband was an NBN service Boost announced in 2024 with wholesale partner BTB, but it never went on sale. Since then the Boost brand has joined Telstra, which already offers NBN through Telstra and Belong, so that’s where we point home internet customers.
Are there Boost home internet plans with unlimited data?
No. Boost’s mobile plans come with a set data allowance, not unlimited data. Unlimited home data is available on NBN plans from Telstra and Belong, and Telstra’s 5G home internet plans include a large monthly allowance, with 1TB on its Premium plan.
Does Boost offer wireless internet or mobile home internet plans?
No. Boost doesn’t have a wireless home internet service or mobile home internet plans. Its internet is mobile data on a prepaid SIM, which suits a phone or a backup connection. For a wireless option at home, Telstra’s 5G home internet is the closest match, and we can check whether it suits your address.
Can I use a Boost SIM as home internet?
It may work in a spare phone, tablet or hotspot device, but it’s rarely a good idea for a whole household. A 30GB or 55GB allowance can disappear in days of streaming and video calls, and costs more per gigabyte than NBN. A Boost SIM is better as your mobile or as a backup.
How much are Boost mobile internet plans?
Boost’s 28-day recharges start at $28 for 8GB, with $39 for 30GB, $49 for 45GB and $59 for 55GB, plus 12-month recharges at $300 (240GB) and $365 (365GB). Boost also has a 7-day $14 recharge. Prices change, so ask us for today’s price and any bonus data.
What is the best alternative to Boost home internet?
For most homes, a Telstra or Belong NBN plan is the best alternative because both include unlimited data. If NBN is slow or unavailable, Telstra 5G home internet is the next option. We check your address and compare the plans for you.
Can I use Boost for my phone and another provider for home internet?
Yes, and many customers do. Keep Boost for your mobile and choose a Telstra or Belong NBN plan for home. We can set up both for you, and move your number or internet without leaving you offline.
Is Boost prepaid internet available for the home?
Boost’s prepaid plans are for mobiles, not for a home broadband connection. If you want a home connection, NBN and 5G home internet are monthly plans with unlimited or high data. If you only need data on the go, a Boost prepaid recharge is a good fit.
Does Mobile Connect sell Boost internet?
We look after Boost customers at both our Underwood and Sunnybank Hills stores, with prepaid plans, SIMs and eSIM setup. Boost doesn’t have a home internet plan, so for your home we recommend Telstra or Belong NBN, or Telstra 5G home internet, and we can help you choose and get connected.
